Ticket sales are now open for one of the most exciting ice skating events on the NISA calendar, the British Championships 2017.Â

The Championships will see Britain best Figure Skaters and Ice Dance Couples take to the ice to compete for the prestigious title of National Champion. The event will take place at iceSheffield, kicking off on the 28th of November and running until the 4th of December 2017.As well as promising some of the most exhilarating ice skating moments of 2017, for some athletes the Championship will pave the road to the Winter Olympics in Pyeong Chang two months later.

Some skaters due to compete include Nicholas Buckland and Penny Coomes, who have competed at the last two winter Olympics and are hoping to make their mark in Pyeong Chang 2018.

Penny has overcome devastating injury to return to competition for the first time in August 2017 at the IJS Sheffield, and now the team are fighting fit and hungrier than ever.

High Performance Programme Manager Robin Cousins said: Nick and Penny comeback to competition is simply remarkable.Last year the team were devastated when Penny broke her knee into eight pieces; an injury which threatened to take her off the ice for good. But now they’ve tasted success at their first competition back they’re fiercely determined to fulfil their goal of competing at Pyeong Chang.

But no matter what, the couple are due to deliver amazing things at the end of the year, and I know they are excited and grateful for the prospect of home support.

Olympic hopefuls Graham Newberry and Natasha McKay are also due to perform at the event – both skaters will be looking to defend their titles as National Champion from 2016.
